About the Opportunity
Ellucian is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead implementations of our integrated administrative solutions for colleges and universities. The Project Manager will support projects including SaaS and Cloud implementations, coordinating functional and technical activities to ensure project success. Candidates should have relevant project management experience, and a strong understanding of the areas outlined below.
Where you will make an impact
- Project staffing and remote project management services for enterprise scale, international projects comprising Cloud software implementations primarily APAC and EMEA regions and potentially for North American clients.
- Work collaboratively with Ellucian’s regional offices, Project Managers and Product Organization, Professional Services teams to effectively facilitate staffing of Ellucian consultants for international engagements and successfully manage multiple resourcing demands for international engagements.
- Build trusted relationships with Ellucian’s regional offices, clients and partners to support smooth and timely staffing, delivery of all services and establish expectations of project team roles and responsibilities.
- Manage all stages of the enterprise software implementation project consisting of Project Initiation, Planning, Execution and Transition/Closure.
- Engage with project stakeholders to prepare and review project plan for adherence and determine any necessary changes, discuss challenges and drive successful mitigation of those challenges.
- Manage high-performing teams of technical, functional consultants, clients and partners using proven skills to motivate performance excellence and encourage cross-functional collaboration throughout the full project lifecycle, resulting in the successful implementation of Ellucian’s suite of solutions and client business requirements.
- Provide direction and approval to project implementation teams on crucial design(s) or approach(es). Initiate and manage a formal change process after identification of a change in scope, cost, or schedule, including those arising from realized risks or arising issues.
- Review risks or issues facing implementation project teams. Provide risk and mitigation plans for individual projects and the overall program.
- Proactively monitor and control all aspects of the project to support status reporting to various constituent groups including project financial reports, schedule status, risks, issues, dependencies, team cohesiveness and performance, client satisfaction, barriers to success and overall project health.
- Conduct project health and quality reviews, provide status updates and progress reports to the Executive Steering Committee and overall health of the project to stakeholders. Recommend and lead corrective action based on qualitative and quantitative information to address project escalations and drive to satisfactory resolutions.
- Demonstrate business acumen and technical experience necessary to communicate with appropriate leadership/key sponsors and negotiate key decisions related to the triple constraints (time, cost, scope) while exceeding client expectations. This may involve negotiations to manage competing priorities and conflicting goals to drive the most appropriate outcomes, while managing risks.
- Contribute to Ellucian’s learning environment through candid and constructive internal feedback, recommendations for delivery improvements, open engagement in internal initiatives and willingness to engage in new and challenging opportunities. Identify opportunities for improvement in internal processes and work with the appropriate Ellucian resources in moving those improvements to reality.
What you will bring
- 3+ years of professional project management experience in enterprise software development and/or implementation projects for international clients.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent industry recognized certification is a plus.
- Experience delivering Secure Software Development or projects (utilizing Java, Oracle experience a plus)
- Global experience working with US, APAC or European clients in offshore model. Superior communication skills working with international project stakeholder at all levels across multiple mediums; verbal, written, in person, and virtual.
- Proficient in project tracking, and presentation tools such as MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint or running Agile projects using SCRUM through Design, Development and Testing
- Experienced Project Lead with accountability for all aspects of the full project lifecycle; successfully applying Project Management disciplines such as resource, quality, risk, issues and change management while accountable for meeting time, cost and scope constraints for software implementations and business process improvement projects.
- Experience working with or managing software development or services consulting teams through the project lifecycle.
- Proven self-directed, pro-active, results-oriented professional with demonstrated ability to meet contractual obligations, promote teamwork and achieve business goals.
- Demonstrated success creating safe communication environments, facilitating difficult conversations, building consensus, applying analytical thinking, gathering and presenting relevant information, negotiating favorable outcomes under strained circumstances and guiding conflict resolution.
- Experience implementing solutions in the cloud is preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively manage service delivery based on Time and Materials or Fixed Price contracts preferred.
