About the Opportunity
As a Cloud Engineer II at Ellucian, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the cloud infrastructure that powers our SaaS solutions for higher education. As Ellucian continues its transformation into an AI-First organization, our cloud environments play a critical role in enabling secure, scalable, and reliable application services.
In this role, you will support the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of our cloud platform while collaborating across engineering, operations, and security teams. Your work will help ensure that both core applications and AI-enabled capabilities operate effectively and efficiently.
Where you will make an impact
- Cloud Infrastructure Design: Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions that meet business and technical requirements. Apply established best practices and adhere to defined architectural standards.
- Deployment & Configuration: Support the deployment and configuration of cloud applications and services. Ensure smooth integration and consistent operation across environments.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for cloud infrastructure and assist in resolving complex issues. Work to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability.
- Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices to protect cloud applications and data. Support compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance and identify areas for improvement. Use performance metrics and monitoring tools to help optimize cloud services and enhance user experience.
- Automation & Optimization: Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline cloud operations. Contribute to ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability across environments.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for cloud infrastructure, including configuration guides, best practices, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed on industry trends and evolving cloud technologies. Identify opportunities to enhance infrastructure stability and service quality.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, security, and data teams to ensure cloud solutions support application requirements, including AI-enabled functionality where applicable.
- Team Contribution: Share knowledge, provide peer guidance, and contribute to a collaborative and accountable engineering environment.
What you will bring
- 3–5 years of experience in cloud engineering, preferably in SaaS or enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and infrastructure best practices
- Moderate experience with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- Strong understanding of web technologies, including REST, TLS, and SAML2
- Proficiency with cloud management tools and technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment
- Interest in continuous learning and improving cloud services
