About the Opportunity

At Ellucian, an internship is more than just checking a box — it's about learning by doing. Our award-winning internship program gives interns the opportunity to build real skills through hands-on experience, working alongside their teams on meaningful projects that support colleges and universities and ultimately impact students just like you.

Throughout the program, you'll contribute to meaningful projects, gain exposure to how teams collaborate, and explore your interests as you begin shaping what's next in your career. You'll be supported by your manager, dedicated project guides, and a structured mentorship program, as well as a broader intern community designed to help you learn and grow.

Additionally, you will participate in executive Q&A sessions and "day-in-the-life" conversations with intern alumni & leaders across our organization, offering insights into career paths at Ellucian - many of which began through this very program.

Our full-time internship program will run from May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026. Apply Now to experience what it's like to live the #ellucianlife.

Project Overview

We are a global SaaS company with decades of experience delivering mission-critical solutions to higher education. Today, we are at a pivotal moment - transforming from a legacy SaaS provider into an AI-first organization. This shift is about more than just technology: it's about reimagining how students, staff, and institutions interact with their systems.

As an Intern Product Manager, you will play a vital role in this transformation. You will use AI tools and techniques to accelerate core product management work - conducting research, synthesizing findings, and building product requirements. This is an opportunity to develop foundational PM skills while learning to leverage AI as a force multiplier for product definition and decision-making.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

  • AI-powered research and synthesis: Use AI tools (e.g., LLMs, search agents, data analysis tools) to conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user research synthesis - turning large volumes of information into clear, actionable insights faster than traditional methods allow.
  • Build product requirements with AI assistance: Draft user stories, feature specifications, and product requirements documents by leveraging AI to organize findings, identify patterns, and produce well-structured deliverables.
  • Customer and user empathy: Shadow customer interviews, capture key themes, and use AI to help synthesize findings across multiple conversations - surfacing pain points, unmet needs, and opportunity areas.
  • Validate and prioritize: Support feature prioritization by using AI to analyze usage data, competitive positioning, and customer feedback to build data-backed recommendations.
  • Experimentation mindset: Work alongside designers and engineers to prototype and test new features, using AI to accelerate ideation, generate design options, or model potential outcomes.
  • Storytelling and influence: Translate research and requirements into simple, compelling narratives for internal teams and leadership - using AI to help structure and refine communications.
  • Metrics and insights: Learn to define and measure feature success - adoption, engagement, and impact - using AI to surface trends and anomalies in product data.
  • Collaboration: Partner with engineering, data science, design, and GTM teams, bringing an AI-augmented approach to every stage of the product development process.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: Currently pursuing a degree in business, computer science, design, or a related field. Prior internships, coursework, or portfolio work in product management or SaaS is a plus.
  • Growing AI capability: A strong interest in AI tools and how they can be applied to real work. You've moved beyond basic chat interactions - maybe you've experimented with structured prompting, used AI for research or analysis, explored workflows that chain multiple steps together, or built something with AI assistance. We're not looking for expertise, but for someone who's curious and already exploring.
  • Product thinking: An understanding of (or strong curiosity about) how products are defined - user stories, requirements, prioritization frameworks, and go-to-market basics.
  • Research and synthesis skills: Ability to gather information from multiple sources, identify what matters, and distil it into clear recommendations. Experience doing this with AI tools is a strong plus.
  • Empathy & communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and represent diverse user needs.
  • Analytical mindset: Comfortable with data, metrics, and structured thinking to back up recommendations.
  • Collaborative energy: Eager to contribute to a cross-functional team, learning from others while adding your own perspective.
  • Bias for action: Excited to experiment, iterate, and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Passion for impact: A drive to help reimagine higher education and SaaS through smarter, AI-augmented product development.
