About the Opportunity
We are seeking an innovative Cloud Engineer to join our team to help drive the modernization of Ellucian applications to enable a true SaaS experience for our Higher Education customers
Where You Will Make an Impact
- Support team leads in developing, enhancing, and maintaining automated provisioning and configuration pipelines.
- Enable timely project delivery by troubleshooting and resolving complex provisioning, deployment, and application‑configuration issues.
- Continuously contribute to documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles.
- Transform conceptual ideas into practical, scalable solutions, using sound engineering principles.
- Collaborate seamlessly with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes and an exceptional customer experience.
- Analyze, refine, and deconstruct existing systems to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and scaling.
- Partner with stakeholders to create, clarify, and present software requirements.
- Translate requirements into actionable tasks and deliverables, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Track, manage, and report work in Jira, maintaining visibility and accountability across initiatives.
- Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis, offering insights, feedback, and recommendations to drive continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring
- 1–3 years of experience in DevOps, including working with Jenkins, Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with end‑users and cross‑functional teams.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices.
- 1–3 years of experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL database technologies.
- 1–3 years of experience with scripting and automation, using tools such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
- 1–3 years of experience working with web servers and web application technologies, such as Tomcat and Apache.
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience with AWS, including EC2, Lambda, Step Functions, Route 53, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- A strong drive to automate manual or repetitive tasks.
- Understanding of containerized application architectures, particularly using AWS ECS.
- A holistic mindset, thinking beyond your immediate tasks to deliver scalable, high‑quality outcomes.
- A solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to identify challenges and propose clear, effective improvements.
Desirable Skills
- AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks).
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex system architectures and their interdependencies.
- Strong proficiency with command‑line tools and hands‑on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Preference for candidates with a Linux background, particularly those comfortable troubleshooting and operating within Linux environments.
