About the Opportunity

Ellucian is looking for a Project Manager to manage the technical delivery. This role of Project Manager is a leadership position responsible for the successful delivery of technical outcomes for large-scale software implementation projects within the higher education sector, with a particular focus on Student Management Systems. The successful candidate will be an accomplished technical project management expertise with a proven track record in managing complex technology delivery for high-value projects, integrating diverse techno-functional teams, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

With deep experience in managing major ERP or Student Management System implementations, the Project Manager will oversee a team of approximately 20-30 onshore and offshore technical analysts, developers, and quality assurance engineers, to ensure seamless delivery.

Where You Will Make an Impact

  • Technical Leadership:
    Lead the planning, direction, and coordination of all technical activities required to manage and implement complex, high-profile projects from contract initiation through to operational handover for business-as-usual activities.
  • Schedule & Activity Management:
    Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive schedules and activity plans, ensuring all technical deliverables are achieved on time and are aligned with the program’s critical path.
  • Project Management:
    Apply standard and adaptive project management methodologies (including Agile where appropriate) to oversee large, complex technical activities, with a focus on SaaS solutions for integration, custom upgrade-safe development, data migration, quality assurance, automation, and operational reporting.
  • Resource Coordination:
    Coordinate and optimize the deployment of skilled resources across multiple time zones, leveraging both onshore and offshore teams to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring early escalation and resolution to maintain project momentum and quality.
  • Stakeholder & Partner Management:
    Build and maintain strong relationships with demanding and mature customer stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective management of expectations.
  • Team Integration:
    Foster a unified team culture, integrating Ellucian and client teams to operate as one, and championing diversity and collaboration across the region.
  • Parallel Stream Oversight:
    Manage multiple parallel workstreams with evolving methodologies, ensuring effective coordination between product development, R&D, PMO, solution, and technical streams.
  • Reporting & Communication:
    Deliver exceptional communication and reporting (both verbal and written) at all levels, providing regular status updates, milestone tracking, and risk assessments to internal and external senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Guide and drive the project management team towards optimal resource utilization, process improvement, and adoption of best practice planning tools (Smartsheet proficiency desirable).
  • Governance & Financial Management:
    Set and oversee governance arrangements, monitor and control resources, revenue, and capital costs against project budgets, and provide accurate revenue forecasting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

    Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to professional growth in project management, enablement, customer success, and related areas.

  • Apply Project Management disciplines such as quality, risk, resource, and change management while being accountable for meeting the time, cost, and scope of each project.
  • Communicate the plan, roles, constraints, milestones, and critical path to all team members and project stakeholders.
  • Understand and apply standard project management and delivery methodology and project tracking standards to build effective plans and deliver quality solutions.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks and identify opportunities
  • Lead project team status meetings to ensure the project milestones are met and dependencies are tracked
  • Manage activities of customer and resources to deliver a fully integrated solution.
  • Act as a shared point of contact between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively and timely coordinate and communicate project activities to all involved parties.
  • Provide management with an articulate summary of project status.
  • Facilitate discussions with appropriate leadership and key sponsors to negotiate key decisions related to the triple constraints (time, cost, scope) while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships and functions as the change agent for customers.
  • Manage all resources when project turnaround situations occur. Lead cross-functional team resolutions to mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Provide timely and constructive performance feedback regarding resources assigned to projects.
  • Improve team dynamics and performance by building team cohesiveness through leadership, mentoring, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and boost morale.
  • Guides overall project leadership team on technical activities from consultants in both APAC, Global Resources and Client.

  • Customer satisfaction
  • Accurate revenue recognition, which requires timely review and approval of time sheets, expense reports, billing request documents, and credit requests.
  • Accomplish project goals within a matrix-management environment.
  • Assist Customer Relations team in developing solutions by providing knowledge and expertise during the sales cycle (this may include the ability to sell the value of project management services).
  • Identify business growth opportunities by applying knowledge of higher education’s industry, business processes, and software products.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced Project Managers
  • Develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Certifications in SaaS and project management disciplines
