About the Opportunity

As a Product Manager at Ellucian, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and enhancement of innovative products that support the needs of higher education institutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, marketing, and customer support to shape product strategy, prioritize features, and ensure successful product delivery. In this role, you will lead product initiatives from ideation through launch, working closely with stakeholders to ensure that our products meet the evolving needs of students, faculty, and academic institutions.

In this position, you’ll work on driving the product strategy and delivery for Ellucian Experience, Ellucian’s SaaS-based central workspace offering that serves as a jumping off point for each persona at a campus. In particular, this individual will help drive the effectiveness of our developer experience offerings for both internal and external customers; enabling internal teams and customers to build faster.

Where you will make an impact

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap: Contribute to the development and execution of product strategy and roadmap, aligning with the company’s business goals and customer needs. Define the vision and objectives for your product area, setting clear priorities.
  • Backlog & Prioritization: Manage the product backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business impact, customer value, and resource constraints. Ensure that product development is aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, design, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into product features, user stories, and specifications. Collaborate effectively to ensure the product is delivered on time and within scope.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation, development, and launch, through to post-launch monitoring and iteration. Track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Coordinate with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to develop go-to-market strategies, ensuring smooth product launches and high adoption rates. Help craft messaging and positioning for product releases. Create enablement materials for each line of business to support sales, implementations, and successful customer adoption
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Regularly assess product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data to track product performance and make informed decisions about improvements or changes. Work closely with data teams to understand user behavior, product usage patterns, and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously innovate and enhance the product offering. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the product team.

What you will bring

  • 2-5 of experience in Product Management or 5+ years of experience in a related role supporting the software development lifecycle. Experience in higher education technology or SaaS industry is highly desirable.
  • Technical Acumen: Familiarity with APIs, Design Systems, and Software Development kits with the aptitude to translate requirements and prioritize user needs for a very technical product suite
  • Product Development Expertise: Solid understanding of the technical aspects of product development, with the ability to work closely with engineering teams. Familiarity with agile development methodologies is essential.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, define metrics for success, and use data-driven insights to inform product decisions and measure outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver on product objectives. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build consensus across multiple teams.
  • User-Centric Mindset: Passion for understanding user needs and translating those needs into actionable product requirements. Experience with user research and usability testing is a plus.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Outcome Driver: Ability to unify and lead a team to outcomes.
  • Prioritization Skills: The ideal candidate naturally prioritizes everything that comes their way; not only can this individual prioritize the development backlog, but are also able to prioritize their own time and context switch between asks that come their way
  • Curiosity: Ability to think critically and creatively to solve complex problems and improve the user experience.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine interest in the education sector and an understanding of the challenges faced by higher education institutions.
