Position Overview
Bricolage Academy is seeking an exceptional, student-centered, equity-driven leader to serve as our next Principal. This leader will build upon the strong foundation of our school community while helping shape the next chapter of Bricolage.
The ideal candidate is a courageous instructional leader who believes deeply in progressive, personalized, and competency-based learning while also ensuring rigorous academic outcomes for every student. This person must be able to lead through complexity, inspire adults and children alike, and cultivate a joyful and inclusive culture rooted in high expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
Visionary & Courageous Leadership
- Lead and refine a compelling vision for school excellence aligned with Bricolage’s mission and values
- Make thoughtful, student-centered decisions in complex and evolving situations
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Serve as a visible and inspiring presence within the school community
Instructional Leadership
- Ensure strong academic outcomes and growth for all students
- Lead the implementation of rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive instruction
- Support high-quality personalized, competency-based, and project-based learning practices
- Develop systems for coaching, observation, feedback, and professional growth
School Culture & Community Building
- Build and sustain an inclusive, joyful, and equitable school culture
- Partner closely with families and community stakeholders
- Support student social-emotional growth and Habits of Success
- Lead restorative and relationship-centered approaches to student discipline
Talent Recruitment & Development
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain exceptional educators and leaders
- Build a diverse and culturally responsive staff community
- Foster collaboration, trust, accountability, and professional learning among staff
- Develop leadership capacity across the school
Operational & Strategic Leadership
- Ensure strong school systems, operations, and organizational effectiveness
- Use data strategically to inform decision-making and improve outcomes
- Collaborate with network leadership to support long-term strategic goals
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on students and staff
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Deep alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of Bricolage Academy
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Minimum of 3 years of school leadership or administrative experience
- Demonstrated success improving student achievement and school culture
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racist leadership practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree, EdD, or PhD
- Louisiana Educational Leadership certification (EDL Level 1–3)
- Previous experience serving as a middle/elementary school principal
- Experience with competency-based, personalized, and/or project-based learning models
- Experience leading diverse school communities
